Vulnerability is now part of every meaningful client conversation, but recording it well is difficult. Records need to be accurate and useful without becoming intrusive or reductive.
Some starting points for discussion:
- How are you identifying and recording characteristics of vulnerability in your files?
- What language works — for the client, for future readers of the file, and for compliance review?
- Where does the current recording process feel uncomfortable or clumsy?
Anonymise all examples. Nothing here should be treated as regulatory guidance.
Adviser Forum publishes prompts like this to open professional discussion, not to set out a position. Contributions carrying practical detail are the most valuable, provided they contain no client information, no regulated advice and no confidential material belonging to your firm or a third party.
